Can I use the gift certificate to buy stuff from the Mensa Boutique?
No.  The Mensa Boutique is a third-party reseller of Mensa merchandise, and there are currently no provisions to transfer funds between the Boutique and American Mensa.

Can I use the gift certificate to pay for testing?
Not at this time. You can use gift certificates only to pay for joining Mensa or for renewing or reinstating your Mensa membership. Testing and other options may be available at a later date.

I lost my claim code. Can you send me another one?
Not a brand-new one, no — but we will re-issue the certificate/number to the original recipient email.

Is the claim code case-sensitive?
No. You don’t have to worry about putting the letters in caps.

Can I use this claim code again?  Can I add more money to it?  Can I move it onto another claim code?
No. Gift certificates and their claim codes are not “rechargeable,” and the amounts are not transferable from one claim code to another.

My gift certificate has expired. Now what?
Alas, “expired” means exactly what it sounds like — those funds are no longer available for use. The expiration date was outlined in the terms and conditions for the purchaser and was included in the original email you received.

My gift certificate is about to expire, and I don’t have any use for the money. Can I have the cash?
Alas, no. Legally speaking, the gift certificates are considered to be prepayment for services. They can’t be redeemed for cash, and they are not transferable. You might consider sharing your claim code and remaining funds with another member.

Can more than one person use the gift certificate?
Since the important part is the claim code, yes — as many people can use the gift certificate as have access to the claim code, until the entire amount of the gift certificate is redeemed.

Can I send the gift certificate anonymously?
Well, we have to know who you are when you make payment, but yes, the gift certificate can list “An anonymous friend” as the giver, if you want.

Do I have to use all the money at one time?
No, funds are available for 24 months from date of purchase and can be used incrementally. If you try to redeem more than is available, however, you are responsible for paying the difference — and the online procedure will let you know when you’re trying to buy something that costs more than is available, so you can make a decision at that point.

Can I use more than one gift certificate per transaction?
Not online. Call us at 817/607-0060 and we can help you with that.

What if the gift certificate email bounces/gets caught in a spam filter/isn’t recognized by the recipient?
We will monitor bounces and will attempt to reissue the certificates. However, beyond that, we have no way of knowing if the email was delivered successfully; therefore, technically and as specified in the terms and conditions, the risk of loss passes to the purchaser at the time of electronic transmission to the recipient. This is a fairly common e-purchase proviso. However, purchasers and recipients are all welcome to call us for gift-certificate status information.
