Science versus scientism is the distinction between the practice of science (a method) and certain views of science (i.e., theories). Scientists of necessity rest upon presuppositions in their beliefs. Scientists who advance the theory of evolution, for example, must rest upon unproven presuppositions and thereby exercise faith. This does not discredit the theory as much as to show that those who hold to it exercise faith in their views regarding the theory.
