Group Awards

For many years, Mensa Local Groups and
members have been working to better their communities. The efforts of
many Mensans have gone into these endeavors, and the Community
Activities Program identifies and recognizes the activities that
local members and groups have undertaken to improve their
communities.

Promoting and and testing cultural literacy among Mensa's members has
always been the intent of CultureQuest®. Mensan
teams of up to five members gather in their neighborhoods on a
single day across the U.S. and Canada and, for 90 minutes, compete
for cash prizes and cultural literacy bragging rights.

The Group of the Year Award Program recognizes Local Group
membership-related activities. It is a competitive program open in
which all Local Groups participate. Under the program, it is
possible for Local Groups, new or established, large or
small, to win this award.

Local Group Owl Awards are presented to those Local Groups that display
outstanding efforts in the areas of membership growth and retention.
Each year, one Local Group receives the Innovative Owl, demonstrating
the highest member retention, and one Local Group receives the Prolific
Owl for overall growth.

The Publications Recognition Program recognizes Local Groups, editors,
webmasters, and contributors for their involvement with local print and
electronic publications. The PRP awards are a voluntary program,
highlighting deserving newsletters and Web sites, with the overall goals
of wider distribution and better communication among Mensans.
