Young Mensan Lego® Contest
- Nov 2, 2013
Calling all Lego® fans! Gather your bricks and get building.
Send us a picture of your efforts, and you could win one of six Lego prizes!
Divisions:
6 & Under: If you’re six or younger, this is the division for you! You can’t use kits, but you won’t be competing against the big guys. Duplos® are allowed in this division.
Structurally Impressive: If you like building Lego projects that defy the laws of physics, this is the category for you! We’re looking for amazing height, impressive weight-bearing load, or other feats of physics.
Practical: Does your creation have a practical use? Can you use it as a mailbox or a key holder or something else besides a toy? Send us an explanation along with a picture.
Humorous: One of the things we love about Young Mensans is your sense of humor. Let it flow in this category and show us your funny Lego creations.
Populated: Little Lego people are what make this category special. This category recognizes Lego construction in which people play an integral part.
Augmented Kit: This is the only category that allows the use of a kit or designs created by someone else at all. Take someone else’s idea, whether it is a kit or instructions you found somewhere else, and embellish it. Add design elements to make it uniquely your own. Be sure to include a photo of what the original kit design was so we can see the changes!
Guidelines:
- The contest is open to members of American Mensa under the age of 18.
- Photos of entries must be submitted by January 5th to GiftedYouth@americanmensa.org. Each entry MUST include the Young Mensan’s name, member number, and the division in which you wish to enter the project.
- All designs must be original. No kits may be used in any of the categories other than “Augmented Kits.” You may use pieces from kits, but building a kit according to included directions is not permitted.
