Renewal season tips for officers

As renewal season kicks off, it’s time to remind members how American Mensa helps them keep their intellectual priorities a constant as their worlds change. And with change in mind, please note that the renewal process will be slightly different this year due to the data system adoption.

The initial invoice will be emailed to all members with an email address on file and mailed via USPS to those who haven’t yet updated their profiles with an email address. Further, youth members will be contacted separately. Those emails are scheduled for the week of Jan. 8-14. Members may renew online at us.mensa.org/renew, but please remember:

  • Members will need to log in to renew. (Passwords must be reset for first-time users.) To renew, users will navigate to us.mensa.org/renew and click "Renew" in the My Memberships panel.
  • Members cannot renew other members online; to do that, please call 817-607-0060 ext. 199
  • Gifted youth and their parents — member or not — will have separate accounts that are linked. (Renewal messages to youth members will explain this in greater detail.) Parents can renew their children through the parent profile if the two accounts are linked. Unlinked children must link to a parent account to renew.

To help spread the renewal season message, news editors may download ads (full-page, half-page or quarter-page) for inclusion in their newsletters. Highlighting the fun and fellowship of local groups is second nature to local group leaders, but it may also be helpful to remind members of broader benefits, including:

  • The Mensa Bulletin, where stimulating, often unique, stories make you think and offer perspective.
  • SIGs, where members combine hobby and friendship for a unique experiences.
  • The Mensa Foundation, which affords members the opportunity to help the rest of intellectual community.
  • Gifted youth services, which support parents and teachers and help students fit in and be challenged.
