Web Services

American Mensa's Web services encompass everything from the structure, content and support of this Web site to discussion forums, group hosting services and elists. These services are currently available to all Local Groups, Special Interest Groups, regions and national committees.

If you're interested in specific services, here is a short synopsis of what we can provide you.

Web Hosting Accounts
American Mensa offers Web hosting capabilities to groups. Our service includes a Web address (URL) of group.us.mensa.org, an initial 40MB of Web space, PHP support, logs and FTP access.

Also available are:
•  DNS for off-server Web hosting accounts
•  Redirection of localgroup.us.mensa.org to an off-server Web space account
•  Secure file area and login using the national authentication system (see below)

Group Email Aliases
Group officers or coordinators can enjoy the benefits of email aliasing, providing a stable addressing system for your members when officers or coordinators change. This service uses the URL format of position@group.us.mensa.org. Each alias points to the actual email address of the officer.

Secure Area and Authentication
Groups can have secured areas on their hosted Web sites, protected by SSL and login authentication.  This is a great service to provide a "members only" area on your site.

Forum Hosting
The American Mensa Forum provides discussion forums for your group and also interest-based forums that may not be tied to a specific group within Mensa.  It's a great way to chat online with members throughout the country.
