March 6, 1983 — The howling wind was shoving California into Arizona that night, and the sea off San Diego protested. “Mayday, mayday! This is the yacht Marie.”

The Mayans were correct in predicting the end of the world. On Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, the Interstate Bakery Company, dba Hostess Brands, announced it was ceasing operations. It was the end of the world as many had known it. Or was it? Let’s start at the beginning…

This group of future leaders will travel to the 2016 American Mensa Annual Gathering and the European Mensa Gathering to present workshops on their leadership experience and innovative ideas that have helped their own Mensas grow and thrive.

To protect the privacy of all of our members, and the security of our most vulnerable, we have to often reevaluate the data security practices we implement and recognize the potential consequences of poor data management. To do so, we've compiled a couple of tips and best practices for Local Groups to help ensure that membership data is properly protected

As we wind down the 2016-17 renewal campaign, now's the perfect time to reach out and encourage your local group's lapsed members to renew with Mensa — all while getting paid for your efforts.

American Mensa saw a small drop in members at the conclusion of its 2015-16 fiscal year but begins 2016-17 up considerably from the same time the previous year.

Local Groups are required to provide each fiscal year’s financial activity, with the reporting period being April 1- March 31. This critical information enables American Mensa to report properly to the Internal Revenue Service.

Key information from the survey is — and will continue to be — used strategically to help the organization support Local Groups.

The election house Survey and Ballot Systems has reported the certified results for the 2015 board election and referenda. These results include 4,214 valid ballots from 43,102 eligible members with a final participation rate of 9.8%.
