Arlington, Texas, October 24th, 2013 — For the past four years, American Mensa has created the ultimate face off in its Bracket Challenge. Past subjects include toys, heroes and inventions.

This year, the challenge turns to the dark side. Sixty-four fictional villains compete head to head in the Mensa Bracket Challenge 2013. The four categories selected are Literary, Horror/Thriller (print or film), Theatrical and SuperVillians. Each region is made up of 16 figures, seeded 1 through 16, based on the strength of their resumes. Some of the contenders include Darth Vader, Hannibal Lecter, Randall Flagg, Patrick Bateman, Voldemort, Walter White, The Joker and Cobra Commander. The victorious villain will be announced in the January 2014 issue of the Mensa Bulletin magazine.

In the first round, the top seed from a given category will face off against the 16th seed from the same category; the second seed will challenge the 15th seed and so on. The dates for voting are listed below.
