ARLINGTON, TEXAS, March 7th, 2014 — American Mensa, the high IQ organization, presented Mr. Peabody with an honorary Mensa membership at the premiere of the animated film, “Mr. Peabody & Sherman.” Although Mr. Peabody did not take the official Mensa admission test, the organization recognizes the brilliant canine is worthy of being deemed one of their own.

Mensa also presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Ty Burrell, the famous actor from ABC’s “Modern Family” who voices Mr. Peabody in the film.  “Although we have yet to have a dog come forward to take our acceptance test, we recognized that Mr. Peabody certainly embodies the Mensa spirit,” said Dr. John Sheehan, Development Officer of American Mensa “We also wanted to honor the man behind the intelligent pup’s voice, Ty Burrell, for promoting intelligence in this fun film.”  American Mensa created the special personalized honorary membership card for Mr. Peabody and certificate to Ty Burrell in celebration of the release of the movie. The items were presented to them at the premiere in Westwood, Calif. on Wednesday, March 5.

The movie, directed by Rob Minkoff and released by 20th Century Fox and DreamWorks Animation, follows the adventures of Mr. Peabody, the most accomplished dog in the world, and his mischievous boy Sherman (voiced by Max Charles), as they use their time machine - the WABAC - to go on the most outrageous adventures known to man or dog, But when Sherman takes the WABAC out for a joyride to impress his friend Penny, they accidentally rip a hole in the universe, wreaking havoc on the most important events in world history.  Before they forever alter the past, present and future, Mr. Peabody must come to their rescue, ultimately facing the most daunting challenge of any era:  figuring out how to be a parent. Together, the time traveling trio will make their mark on history.  “Mr. Peabody & Sherman” opened on Friday, March 7, in theaters across the country.
