ARLINGTON, TEXAS, June 24th, 2011 — More than 2,000 Mensa members and guests from the world over will be heading out west to Portland, Ore. for the biggest American Mensa event of the year!

Mensa members come from all walks of life, but they all have one thing in common—high intelligence and for one week they gather to share and expand that common bond.

This year, convention attendees of all ages will participate in more than 300 programs, speaker sessions (including several best-selling authors), and learn about anything from earthquakes and tsunamis to arts and crafts. Members will also have an opportunity to tour the
City of Roses and see all the great sights that makes Portland a great location for a Mensa convention.

“This will be the first time in the history of American Mensa that the National Convention will be held in the Pacific Northwest,” said Michael Meagher, 2011 AG Co-Chairman. “Members who attend this year’s gathering will have a perfect opportunity to meet new people, see old friends, learn new things, and enjoy a Mensa vacation in one of the greenest cities in the country.”

For those interested in joining the American Mensa experience, an Admission Test will be given on Thursday, June 30, 2011, at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Suite or Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. in the Grand Ballroom of the Hilton Portland & Executive Tower. The test is $40 and open to anyone 14 years old and above. Test takers should arrive 30 minutes early for registration and bring a photo ID. A parent or guardian must accompany those under 18.

The 2011 American Mensa Annual Convention, hosted by Oregon Mensa and Mensa of Western Washington at the Hilton Portland & Executive Tower, will take place June 30-July 4, 2011 in Portland. Mensa members from across the country gather every 4th of July weekend to meet friends, share knowledge, and have fun.
