Having Hard Conversations with Your Kids: How to Master the Hardest Parts of Parenting
- No group assigned
- August 27, 2026
If parenting was easy, everyone would do it. If our kids made the harder parts of parenting easier, then we wouldn't have to worry so much. But of course, that's not always (ever?) the case. Because the hard conversations about life are a vital part of parenting, we cannot run from these challenges; instead, we must level up as we learn to embrace them. In this session, Dr. Matt Zakreski will identify several of the "hot button" issues of parenting neurodivergent children and present information and strategies to empower parents to engage in these conversations effectively.
Learning Objectives:
- How we can understand the neuropsychological development of kids and how that development impacts their mood, self-concept, and behavior.
- Parents will develop skills of co-regulation that are based on helping to help their kids understand their emotions and manage them without trying to avoid them.
- Parents will develop communication skills that focus on empathetic listening, reflection, and dialoguing in order to have challenging conversations more effectively.
